The South Florida Sun-Sentinel and the Palm Beach Post have articles on Pfc. Chassan Henry, of the 1-9th, who was killed on 2.25.2005 in the Anbar Province. Pfc Henry joined the Army last year after serving in the Job Corp. Considered an at-risk teen, he had found motivation at the age of 13 at a "boot camp" run by the local Sheriff's office. He enjoyed the experience so much that he returned later as the programs first mentor. Pfc. Henry had hoped to be a computer technician after leaving the Army.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that two memorial ceremonies will be held this week for 2nd BCT soldiers killed in action. A service today will honor 7 soldiers from the 44th Engineer battalion. A separate service tomorrow will honor 6 fallen soldiers of the 2-17th Field Artillery.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel carries an article on Staff Sgt. Jason Hendrix, of the 1-9th, who was killed in Ramadi on 2.16.2005. His parents are divorced and both desired custody of his body after no will was found. The Department of Defense granted custody to his biological father in Oklahoma because he is "the senior parent". The dispute is going to court. The Department of Defense suggested a compromise of burial at Arlington National Cemetery, but no decisions have been made.

Popular Photography magazine posted the winning photographs from a competition held for servicemen and women in Ramadi. The contest, sponsored by the Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR) program, received 120 photo submissions. The top 3 photos in 4 categories are posted on the web-site, and the grand prize winning photograph will be printed in the magazine.

Rocky Mountain News has an article on a planned announcement for U.S. Military base closings this spring. Local officials expect Ft. Carson will not be closed, and cite the arrival of the 2nd BCT this summer as a primary reason.
