Combat Fatality
The Department of Defense announced the death of a 2nd BCT soldier.
Staff Sgt. Alexander B. Crackel, of the 1-9th, was killed in the Anbar Province on 2.24.2005 "from injuries sustained from enemy small arms fire." Staff Sgt. Crackel was from Wilstead Bedford, United Kingdom. He was 31 years old.
Staff Sgt. Crackel is the 3rd soldier from the 1-9th, and 58th 2nd BCT serviceman, to die in Iraq while serving our country. Our hearts go out to his family.
