The Indianapolis Star has an article on Pfc. Stephen Downing, of the 2-17th Field Artillery, who was killed in Ramadi on 10.28.2004. Pfc. Downing father wrote in a note: "Although my heart is heavy for you, son, I have a great pride deep in my soul. I have great respect, and I am the proudest father in the world."

Maurice Keith Fortune, of the 2-17th Field Artillery, who was killed in Ramadi on 10.29.2004 after a car bomb exploded near his vehicle. Sgt. Fortune came from a family with a long military history. He was married and the father of an infant.
The NY Post and Long Island Newsday have stories on Marine 1st. Lt. Matthew Lynch, of the 2/5 Marines, who was killed on 10.31.2004 in Ramadi after an explosion occured near his vehicle. Lt. Lynch was on his 3rd tour in Iraq. On this 3rd tour, he volunteered to go in order to be with his men. His brother also served in Afganistan and Iraq before leaving the Marines.
