Combat Fatality
The Department of Defense announced the death of 2nd BCT Marine.
1st Lt. Matthew D. Lynch, of the 2/5 Marines, was killed on 10.31.2004 in the Anbar province from enemy action. Lt. Lynch was from Jericho, NY. He was 25 years old. Our hearts go out to his family.
Lt. Lynch is the 8th reported 2/5 Marine killed while serving our country in Iraq since their current deployment began in September, and the 23rd serviceman reported killed under the 2nd BCT command in Iraq. A tribute to the fallen soldiers and Marines is found on the Family Readiness Group site.
