Combat Fatality
The Defense Department announced that Pfc. Joshua Titcomb of the 2nd BCT 72nd Armor Regiment died on 9.29.2004, one day after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded near his vehicle in Ramadi. He was 20 years old and hailed from Somerset, KY. Further information on Pfc. Titcomb from friends are reported in the Lexington Herald-Leader and the Louisville Courier Journal.. According to media reports, Pfc. Titcomb is the 7th 2nd BCT soldier killed in Iraq serving his country. Our hearts go out to his family.
Here is a Stars & Stripes reports on Pfc. Joshua Titcomb. Pfc. Titcomb was the 2nd member of the 2nd Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment (2-72), following Staff Sgt. Gary A. Vaillant, who was killed on 9.5.2004. The 2-72 Armor has one company-sized unit deployed with the 2nd BCT in Iraq. The remainder of the regiment remained in Korea.
